Volcanic activity at Kīlauea's summit is unpredictable and changes frequently.

While we visit the most active areas, seeing lava is not guaranteed. We adjust the tour in real-time to provide the best (and safest) experience based on current conditions. The tour operates rain or shine.

Is food provided?

Food is not included on the Kīlauea Only: Eruption Roulette Tour.

What should I bring?

• Essentials: Hat, sunglasses, camera, and a Military ID or America the Beautiful Pass if you have one.
• Shoes: Comfortable walking shoes (closed-toe for lava terrain).
• Clothing: A rain jacket or poncho and a light sweater (it gets chilly at the summit!).

When and where does the tour start?

• Start Time: Approximately 8:00 AM (as soon as all guests are on board).
• Return Time: Approximately 12:30 PM.
• Pick-up Location: Cruise Ships — Hilo Harbor. Your guide will meet you outside the port gates where the van is parked.

Who is this tour ideal for?

What are the physical requirements?

Moderate walking and some stairs required. Some guests have opted to wait at the shuttle for activities including stairs.
